Strong Starting Pitching Leads Dragons Past Cavemen for the 2nd Straight Night

June 6th, 2009 ∙ Lisle, IL - The Dupage Dragons continued to impress early on in the 2009 season, winning their second game against the Hannibal Cavemen, 3-1. Another strong performance from the pitching staff helped the Dragons remain undefeated in the young season.

Winning pitcher Will Strack spread seven hits over as many innings and recorded four strikeouts and three walks. Casey Webber and Eric Wagner each struck out a Caveman hitter to aid in the victory. In two games so far this season, the Dragon's pitching staff has not allowed one earned run.

Hannibal struggled mightily on defense and with their starting pitching, allowing the Dragons to capitalize and seize victory number two. Hannibal starter James Hudelson walked eight batters, and the team committed five errors allowing the Dragons to take advantage of every opportunity they were presented.

Cole Tyrell continued his success at the plate, going 2-4 with a walk, two RBI's, and two runs scored. The shortstop has been the catalyst thus far for the Dragons, and was moved up to the three-spot in the batting order for Saturday's game.

Between another strong pitching performance, and the eight hits, the Dragons improved their record to a cool 2-0 this season, and will look to improve to 3-0 as they travel to play the Quincy Gems tomorrow night.

The Dragons home opener is slated for 7:05 pm on Tuesday, June 9th against the defending champion Springfield Sliders. Tickets are available by calling the Dragons’ ticket office at 630-241-2255 or by purchasing online at www.dupagedragons.com.
