The Dupage Dragons sent Brad Riegler (Downers Grove/UIC) to the mound in hopes of improving to 10-8 in a showdown of both East and West Division teams.  Riegler allowed base runner Derek Carr to advance to third on a wild pitch, and a sacrifice fly to center would put the Sliders ahead 1-0 heading into the Dragons half of the inning.

Riegler fell into some trouble again in the top of the 2nd inning, on a 2 run double from Billy Messer.  Messer would go on to score on a play at the plate, just beating out a throw from center fielder Austin Kingsolver (Dana Point, CA/Cal-State Fullerton), leaving the score heading into the bottom of the 2nd at 4-0.  Sliders starter Matt Zicher would go on to strike out the Dragons in the bottom half of the inning.

The Dragons were able to get on the board in the bottom of the 3rd on an RBI single from Dave Reynolds (Orland Park, IL/NIU), scoring Austin Kingsolver.  Andrew Brauer’s (Bolingbrook, IL/College of DuPage) second hit as a Dragon came in the bottom of the 4th, scoring Barrett Serrato (West Chicago, IL/Purdue), and cutting the Slider’s lead to 2 runs.

Brad Riegler would allow a leadoff double to Charlie Kelly, who would later score on a double from Nick Spisak.  That double would come off of new pitcher Colin O’Connel, who after giving up the unearned run, would get out of the inning trailing 5-2.

Pinch hitter Matt Miribal (Chicago, IL/Illinois State) was not able to mount a comeback, grounding into a double play in the bottom of the ninth.

The Dragons continue their home stand, hosting the Quincy Gems.  Ticket information is available at www.dupagedragons.com
