June 20th 2009, Huntingburg, IN - After a long road trip the, the Dragons came into tonight’s matchup against the Dubois County Bombers with .500 record on the year (6-6) and a .500 mark on the trip. The Dragons took out the Bombers in a tight game last night by a score of 6-5. The road green sent Will Strack to the mound. Coming into the game, Strack was 1-0 on the year with a 2.31 ERA.
Strack got off to a tough start allowing a Bomber’s run to cross the plate in the bottom half of the first inning . The Bombers scored again in the third on a wild pitch from the Dragon’s starter. Strack finished the game with 2 earned runs in 5 innings pitched.
The Dragons finally cracked the scoreboard in the 7th. FO Barrett Serrato and Brad Riegler led off the inning with back-to-back hits, and Serrrato was later driven in by a sacrifice fly into left by leadoff hitter Austin Kingsolver. The Dragons trailed 2-1 after 7.
After Brian Roberts held off the fort in the bottom of the 7th, the dragons came back and scored on a bases loaded walk to outfielder Steve Sabitino in the 8th. It was Sabitino’s first RBI of the year in his first attempt at the field and the Dragons had knotted the score up at 2 apiece.
Fast forward to the bottom half of the 11th inning. Kyle Richardson lead off the bottom half of the inning for the Bombers with a double off of Dragons pitcher Casey Webber. After walking the bases loaded, Joe Motta stepped the plate with 1 out. He took a first pitch Webber fast ball into center field for the game winning RBI. The Bombers took out the Dragons in by a score of 3-2 in 11. The Dragons left 17 men on base throughout the night.
