Dragons’ Bats Show Signs of Life
with Romp of Danville

June 14th, 2009, Lisle, IL - Fresh off their win against the Springfield Sliders, the 3-4 Dragons were looking to climb back to .500 on the year. The Danville Dans (4-4) were in town, with third place in the Western Division on the line.

Bryan Roberts, (University of Illinois, Lisle Ill) who had pitched only 4 innings prior to this game, took the mound for the home Dragons. After giving up 2 runs in the first two innings, Roberts calmed down, putting up 3 straight scoreless innings. His final line read like this; five innings, one earned run, and 4 strike outs. Steve Sabatino (Notre Dame, Des Planes) came out of the pen in the 6th, and held the Dans scoreless in 3 innings of work. Casey Webber closed out the game in the 9th, giving up one run.

At the plate, it was the Dragons best game of the year. Adam Davis (University of Illinois, Bloomingdale) started them off with an RBI infield hit in the second. Davis continued his hot day at the plate, driving in 2 in the fourth. He finished with 5 RBI’s on the day.

Cole Tyrell had a big 2 RBI double in the 4th. Lead off- hitter Austin Kingsolver went 3 for 4 on the day with one run and one RBI. Matt Mirabal earned the purple heart by getting hit by a pitch 3 times, and scoring twice. The Dragons won the big game 10-3 in front of a crowd of 611. The win brought them back to .500 on the year, and they leaped frogged the Dans in the standings, and now are in third place in the Western division.
