May 30, 2008 | LISLE, IL The Dragons are pleased to announce the signing of a trio of Huskies from Northern Illinois University catcher Matt Behren, pitcher Tom
Zelasko, and first baseman Dave Reynolds.
Behren, an Elmwood Park native, batted .226 and drove in 11 in 28 games
as a junior. He was named a team captain following a 2007 campaign that
saw him post a team-leading .352 batting average with 10 doubles and 31
driven in.
Zelasko, a left-handed pitcher from Lansing, threw only five innings
during his freshman year at NIU. As a senior at Mount Carmel last year,
the Chicago Tribune named him among the area top 100 high school
players. Zelasko garnered All-State honors after posting a 1.44 ERA with
67 strikeouts in 53.1 innings pitchers en route to a 6-1 record.
Reynolds, an alumnus of Carl Sandburg High School in Orland Park, comes
to the Dragons fresh off a stellar sophomore season in DeKalb. He was
named to the MAC All-Tournament Team last week after belting two home
runs and driving in five in four tournament games. The effort capped a
season that saw Reynolds bat .294 with 7 home runs 38 runs batted in.
The 2008 Dragons open the home portion of their schedule on June 9th at
