Impressive Freshman Campaign has Future Looking Bright for Illini Righty Strack

Will Strack

May 26th, 2009 | Lisle, IL When looking for a dependable pitcher at the top of their rotation, the Dragons may have to look no further than Illini ace Will Strack. The freshmen from Sycamore started nine games for the University of Illinois, and finished with a 6-1 record. He was third best on the team with a 3.84 ERA, and proved to be a great ground ball pitcher, only allowing four home runs in 68 innings pitched.

The 6-2, lengthy right hander had extremely impressive numbers in high school as well. He went 9-2, with a .93 ERA his senior year at Sycamore, High School. He was named the 2008 Western Sun Conference MVP, was part of the IHSBCA 3A/4A All-State first team as a pitcher, and a second-team All-State outfielder according to the Chicago Tribune. He was even named the 2008 Daily Chronicle Player of the Year as well. His awards mantle may be full, but that won’t stop Will Strack from putting up great numbers at the front of the Dragon’s rotation.

The Dragons home opener is slated for 7:05 pm on Tuesday, June 9th against the defending champion Springfield Sliders.  Tickets are available by calling the Dragons’ ticket office at 630-241-2255 or by purchasing online at www.dupagedragons.com.
