May 1, 2008 | LISLE, IL The Dupage Dragons are pleased to bring aboard a hometown player in the form of Pete Cappetta, a Lisle native. Pete is a freshman outfielder who currently plays for the Illinois Fighting Illini baseball team in Champaign Urbana.
As his freshman year comes to a close, Pete has made the most of his playing time with the Fighting Illini. He is batting .308 with 1 homerun and 5 RBI’s. He has also shone in the field with a 1.000 fielding percentage while playing in 20 games.
As a senior at Montini, he batted .420 with 10 homeruns and 38 RBI’s. Those numbers got him selected to the 2007 Chicago Sun Times All-State team. That same year he was named an All-State special mention by the Chicago Tribune. He was named the Suburban Catholic Conference Player of the Year in 2007. Pete was ranked the number 15 player in the state of Illinois Class of 2007 by Prep Baseball Report.
