Reigler & Tokarski Give Downers Grove
feel to 2008 Dragons

April 30, 2008 | LISLE, IL Two more local players have signed to play for the 2008 Dragons.  These players include pitcher Brad Reigler from the University of Illinois Chicago and middle infielder Kevin Tokarski from Illinois State.  This will mark Brad’s second consecutive year pitching for the Dragons.  Both Reigler and Tokarski hail from Downers Grove.

Reigler, a right handed relief pitcher for the Flames, has a current record of 3-0 and sports an ERA of 7.04.  This year in 8 appearances he has surrendered 24 hits and 12 earned runs while racking up 9 strikeouts.

Brad is the only returning player from the 2007 Dragon team.  Last summer he posted a record of 1-0 with a 2.97 ERA in 17 appearances.  He also recorded 2 saves while allowing 10 earned runs and striking out 19.

While at Downers Grove South, Brad was a three time all-conference selection as well as a member of the all-area team as a sophomore.  As a senior he compiled a record of 8-2 with an ERA of 1.25 and 60 strikeouts.  That same year as a hitter he batted .360 with 2 homeruns and 31 runs batted in.  Over his three year career at Downers South he racked up 20 wins.

Tokarski, a middle infielder for the Illinois State Redbirds, has thus far been a pleasant surprise for the Redbirds.  Last week he broke the ISU single-season record for stolen bases with 28.  This year he is currently hitting at a clip of .327 and is tied for the team lead with 50 hits.  He has also drawn 21 walks this season and currently stands at 30 stolen bases on the season.

As a senior at Downers Grove North, Tokarski was named first-team All-State by the Chicago Tribune after hitting .441 with 8 triples and 20 stolen bases.  He was a first-team all-conference and Daily Herald all-area selection in both his junior and senior years.  Tokarski was also named as a special mention on the all-state team by the Chicago Tribune after his junior year where he batted .476 with 2 homeruns, 5 triples, and 15 stolen bases.

The 2008 Dragons open the home portion of their schedule on June 9th at 7:05 p.m. against the Danville Dans.  Tickets are available by calling the Dragons’ ticket office at 630-241-2255 or by purchasing online [ here ].
