Dragons Sign Trio from Oakland University

April 29, 2008 | LISLE, ILThe 2008 Dupage Dragons have signed three players from the Oakland University Grizzlies baseball team.  Those players include pitcher Andrew Estes, outfielder Justin Wilson and infielder Scott Sexton.

Estes, a sophomore starting pitcher from Michigan, currently has a record of 2 wins and 3 losses with an 8.19 ERA through 8 appearances.  He has allowed 44 hits while striking out 8 and walking 13.
While at Blissfield High School, Andrew was a three time All-League and two time All-State selection.  He finished his senior year with an 8-4 record, a 1.30 ERA, while also recording 7 saves.  His team finished in first place during the regular season and finished in fourth place during the State Tournament.

Justin Wilson, a junior outfielder from Michigan, was a high school teammate of Andrew Estes.  He currently is batting .301 with 3 homeruns and 9 RBI’s.  While not much of a power hitter, Wilson’s ability to draw walks is what stands out.  He has drawn 21 walks this season and has stolen 10 bases.
During Justin’s senior year at Blissfield, he was chosen to be a participant in the East-West All Star Game.  He was appointed the honor of captain in his senior year and hit .396 with 16 doubles, 6 triples, 3 home runs and 47 RBI’s.  He was a two-time all-league, all-county, all-district, all-region and all-state honoree.

Scott Sexton, an infielder and Bridgeview native, has hit to the tune of .368 in his freshman year at Oakland U.  He has banged out 32 hits while scoring 13 runs as well as recording 9 doubles and 20 RBI’s.
Sexton was a three-time all-conference and all-area selection while attending Oak Lawn Community High School.  He was twice named team MVP and was named offensive MVP three times.  He hit over .390 all three years he was a member of the Spartans baseball team.

The 2008 Dragons open the home portion of their schedule on June 9th at 7:05 p.m. against the Danville Dans.  Tickets are available by calling the Dragons’ ticket office at 630-241-2255 or by purchasing online [ here ].
