Tokarz, Stroud Headline Strong Local Class
for 2008 Dragons

 

April 21, 2008 | LISLE, IL April 21, 2008 ∙ Lisle, IL – The Dupage Dragons are pleased to announce the signing of two local players who will join the Dragons this summer.  Those players include Naperville native Jordan Tokarz from Eastern Illinois and Joliet native Brian Stroud from Western Michigan.

Tokarz, a middle infielder and two year letter winner from Neuqua Valley High School, is currently batting a solid .303 in his junior year at Eastern Illinois.  This is Tokarz’s first season with the Panthers baseball team as his previous two seasons were spent at Elgin Community College where he earned All-American Honors in 2006 and 2007, highlighted by first-team honors in 2007.  Thus far he has amassed 33 hits with 5 doubles and 3 homeruns.

In his senior year of high school, Tokarz set school records in batting average (.489), hits (66), runs scored (52) and stolen bases (28).  That year he was a team captain as well as team MVP.  He also earned first-team All-State honors from the Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association.

Stroud, a freshman with the Western Michigan Broncos, has compiled a record of 3-0 with 1 save in 6 appearances.  He has also registered a 5.76 ERA with 24 strikeouts.

While at Providence Catholic, Stroud earned three varsity letters and was a three time all-conference member.  He won nine games his junior year and eight games his senior year and concluded his career with a 24-12 record.  His senior year he was named to the All-State team.
