Call Him Dangerous: Illini’s Davis will provide Power behind the Plate

Adam Davis

March 19, 2009 | Lisle, IL When it comes to bringing in the hardware, the Dragon’s new catcher knows a thing or two about winning awards. Adam Davis (Driscoll Catholic, Bloomingdale, IL) earned All-Area and All-State accolades by the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, and Daily Herald in 2007, along with being named Suburban Catholic Player of the Year in 2008. His four varsity letters, second team All-State selection (All-State for 1A/2A), and ranking as the 15th best prospect in the state of Illinois are nothing to hide under the dirt as well.  Speaking of dirt, what Davis did behind the plate was also impressive. Throwing out 60% of would be base stealers in 2007, it seems like the Dragons have recruited the always coveted stable catcher.

Apart from his awards and spectacular defense, Davis re-wrote the Driscoll baseball record book. His career .527 batting average and 27 home runs are high school bests. As a freshman at the University of Illinois, Davis serves as the backup catcher for the nationally ranked Illini. He has made the most of his limited opportunities, however, batting .500 as a pinch hitter. With the combination of his youth and accolades, it is apparent that Adam Davis will play a big role for the Dragons this year, in what looks to be a successful season.

The Dragons home opener is slated for 7:05 pm on Tuesday, June 9th against the defending champion Springfield Sliders.  Tickets are available by calling the Dragons’ ticket office at 630-241-2255 or by purchasing online at www.dupagedragons.com.
